SixOnSaturday
Snow ! Just a little bit , a few cm , but C ! It ’s all pass now but the garden was in short blanketed in white . It ’s quite considerate of it to have disappeared before the weekend , should mean I can get some gardening in . I have a bit of weed to do in the front garden . An hour or two spent deal with it now will save me several times that if left till warmer weather condition arrive . Time for Six on Saturday then . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – wildlife , a cock , a flower , development , a caper complete , a job unfinished , anything at all . Join in !
Here are my Six for this calendar week …

1 – Ivy Berries . I hump for indisputable the local blackbird universe is fond to an ivy berry , I watched one peck at a bunch like this and polish off the lot in no sentence . For all it ’s several faults , this common ivy thicket certainly pushes the gravy boat out at the remainder of the year . First we have the welcome nectar - robust blossom , available long after much of the rest of the garden is kaput , but also the berries for the boids . It ’s the gift that keeps on giving .
2 – Astrantia major x ‘ ruby hymeneals ’ . At least , that ’s if you believe the nearby recording label . I opine we ’ll find out afterward in the twelvemonth . Whatever it is , it seems to have settle in nicely since growing from seed last class . This flush of new increment is one of several egress from the cap . For some reason I happen astrantia quite tricksy to turn from seed . I find very few germinate and then very few of those survive to get on . Despite this I appear to have include one or two kinds in my seed orders this year .
3 – Cheapo snowdrop , unfurling . Around October time I corrupt 100 snowdrop lightbulb for under a 5 – just your bog stock snowdrop , nothing fancy . I plant them all in the lawn , something I may come to imprecate if they stick around into mow season . They are just beginning to come through .

4 – Allium ‘ Mount Everest ’ , roots . The three dozen genus Allium I have in 7 centimetre mountain are more or less all through now , and all are putting on a comely stage set of origin . I am look forward to planting these out in the perimeter , not least because I will before long necessitate the space in the greenhouse .
5 – Raspberry bed . I have been without raspberry for a few years now . I had a stall of autumn fruiting canes which sort of petered out after years of good crops . I replaced the canes , plant them in a different country of the veg plot . I did those no favour by mulching them with spent mushroom-shaped cloud compost – they do n’t wish it , too lime - y , I gather . Despite digging them up , replacing the soil and replanting them , they have not thrived . I am having another tailspin of the wheel of raspberry fortune . A couple of month back I buy nine newfangled cane , three lots of three . Two are summertime fruit ( Glen Prosen and Glen Ample ) and one fall fruiting ( Autumn Bliss ) . Wanting to give them a secure chance , last weekend I built a couple of raise bed , filling with a mix of top soil and garden compost . If they are glad in their newfangled menage , I should have 3 or 4 months of raspberries next class .
6 – Scabiosa caucasica ‘ fama deep blue ‘ . I was tutting at this plant life ’s appearance , think I must tidy that up , when I point out a rather anemic blossom . I ’m not sure if this skeletal peak is a late bloom from last twelvemonth , or an other one from this yr . The former , I distrust . When it flowers the right way next year , as the name suggests , they are a deep amobarbital sodium . I buy this industrial plant in October and it is still in its tidy sum expect the nonmigratory nurseryman to make up his psyche where to plant it . Could be a while .

I trust the conditions let you to have a productive gardening weekend , do n’t forget to curb back in during the daytime as radio link get added .
I ’ll be back next week with another # SixOnSaturday .
