Gardening

‘ Ello ‘ ello .   Time for another Six on Saturday .   Six thing going on in the garden , on a Saturday .   Why not link in ?

1 – Rose , unknown miscellany . Annoying that it ’s unknown as I ’m sure I found the label for this the other twenty-four hours .   Might be opine it . Anyhow , this small shrub rose was give to my wife as a natal day present almost 7 years ago .   Through most of that metre it has remained a fairly pathetic article , omit at the front of the perimeter .   We sometimes grow some blossom , but generally not much .   It has clearly go against up its ideas as it is bloom profusely , or in the process of so doing .   I imagine the mulch the perimeter was render earlier in the spring is the secret plan - changer .   High manure content , good for rose it seems .

2 .   Lily .   I mention these a few Sixes ago .   They are now flower , more to arrive still .   They are a bit isolated in the border at the here and now , I need their recently planted bedmates to grow on and launch , then they will be in polite company .

3 .   Clematis ‘ Comtesse de bouchard ’ . One of my many cheapo acqusitions to begin with this twelvemonth ,   It is flowering away quite happily , although not very tall . It is twelvemonth 1 in the ground , so I expect more from it ( and its counterparts ) next year and beyond .

I also lost a clematis   plant ( well , the above - ground portion of it ) to wilt .   It was looking reasonably pitiful ( all in ) so I ’ve cut it down to the ground .   I may get some new growth from below the soil this year , perchance not till next year , and maybe it ’s a goner .   They do usually come back .   Bit annoying .

4 .   Courgette – recall I ’d let in these fellas here as they are flowering away .   I ’ve 4 of this bush motley in the ground , so I will have a glut of courgettes .   Or , if I turn my back for 5 minutes , marrows .

5 . Lavender .   Bit old school day , but I wish it .   My granddaddy had a big lavender shrub next to some steps in his garden .   It was always full of bees and thus , as a kid ,   an object to be feared , and to be be given by chop-chop .   Funny how these things stick in your nous .   Anyhow , I have acquired a burden very cheaply   in late year and have been meddlesome establishing clumps of what # 4 child refers to as “ that smelly bush ” at choke point in the garden , caricature the effect my grandpa achieved way back when .

6 . Honeysuckle .   Well , I recollect it ’s now an ex - coast banksia . The last couple of days it has been exhibit some strange behavior .   It would leaf up in the bound , flower , then immediately   drop all it its foliage , not even waiting till the autumn . This twelvemonth it has not leafed up at all , never mind flowered .   I ’ll have to cut into it up I cerebrate .   Still , on the positive side , I necessitate a new plant life !
