sentence for another Six on Saturday . Six thing going on in the garden on a Saturday . Could be anything ; a unspoilt prime , interesting foliage , a project , a foresighted overdue line , anything at all . Why not join in ?
1 – lobelia ‘ shower ’ . I arise these from seed this year . They are a go after variety and flowering away quite happily . I might be bias but I retrieve these are much more vigorous than shop bought plugs . I have them planted in container and raft on the patio . mere but effective , if I do say so myself .
2 – carex var unk . I bribe this a couple of years back . I need to chop it back a bit . I do n’t like it when it get all wispy and sprawly . In fact , I ’m not convinced I wish it much at all . In the brutal Darwinist survival of the lovely that is my perimeter planning , it might have to go .
3 – cotinus ‘ Grace ’ . I expect I ’ll end up featuring this shrub again when the colour turns in the fall . I grow this for the leaf people of color rather than for the flowers which give it it ’s common name of smoke bush . I ’ve been trying firmly to propagate this and am not really succeeding . I have one deal cut left that may or may not steady down . I pruned this shrub back heavily to the framework , it has responded well with several feet of new development since the spring .
4 – euphorbia cornigera . I seek to grow these from seed in the beginning in the yr , nothing doing . I was proud of to get handgrip of this plant at a plant fair for beans . It is still small but has put on a turn of ontogeny this year . I ’m not sure if the light lime colour at the remnant of the bow is young foliage or euphorbian flower . The latter I mean , based mainly on the interest group show by the buzzy affair .
5 – nasturtium . This wax form has self seeded from plant that I grew from come myself last class . The flowers last year were all red or yellow , their offspring are all shades of orange , some of them quite strikingly patterned . I have not train these works so they are straggle through the other plant life , an impression I reckon I prefer .
6 – genus Geum ‘ totally tangerine tree ’ . I ’m quite taken with geums in general this twelvemonth . I picked up this one in a sale at a classy garden center – one of those that has more furniture and nik - naks than industrial plant . I was impressed though with the quality of the plants which were all a enough size , but less impressed by the price which experience very in high spirits although that may just have been because of the size of the plants . However , they had a good sales event of perennials that might not have much go away to do this class , fiver a plant . I got a mickle , include this blighter . I have n’t yet launch a dear spot for it in the moulding so it is waiting patiently in the insensate - frame along with it ’s fellow buy purchases .
