I just originate them because they are easy , and no matter what anyone tells you , just because they are beautiful and carefree has nothing to do with why I mature so many . It may not look like it , but I am a indolent nurseryman . It ’s true , ask anyone who really knows me . I actually have very little costless time to garden and niggle with things , and although many of you demand me “ Matt , I do n’t recognize how you do all that you do ! ” , the verity is , that if you ever jaw me , you will see the Sojourner Truth . There is my ‘ prop ’ portion of the garden , and then there is the rest . And God forbid if you ever drop in unannounced and see the interior of the house ! for certain , Succulents are easy , colorful and fun to grow , and that ’s why I grow them . I will admit that I have been propagate most of my own succulents ( a loosely used full term that bundles together many genus ’ of plants which have heavyset , water - fill leaves ) , and a right number of them I simply take cutting from randomly each tumble and spring , which has grown my solicitation exponentially . I will let in that I produce some serious succulent and cacti – meaning that there are some which I bother to label , breed and organise by genus ( such as Rebutia and Haworthia ) , but there are many which I simply grow for their appearance .
succulent are habit-forming , and relatively prosperous - to - grow , as long as you do n’t grant them to detain too wet while in green goddess . Each year I add more and more to my collecting of ornamental forms , often even forget their name , as I really do nt ’ care since remember , I really do n’t care them .
I recycle most of my succulents each spring and fall with cutting , at least with my sedum and graptoveria mintage , as they steady down easily . These are succulent that can take much abuse , and when I take cutting , I localise them close together in pots , almost poignant . This allows me to make geometrical patterns or decorative displays . Last class I plant my most colorful succulent in concentric band in one of our grandiloquent urns . This year , I am using some trendy light-green wall planters that Joe buy last year on sale . These will allow be to constitute colourful pulley block of colour with various species and selections .
