Mixing conifers and deciduous plantings
Lee Miller has been wanting to transport in some photos for a tenacious prison term and in the end take the plunge ! If you have been imagine about it , why not send some in too ?
I am a lifetime nurseryman , generator , landscape / garden designer , and adviser from the south shoring of Long Island and have been involved in the horticultural industry for over twenty twelvemonth . I have had a spadeful in my hand since the age of five and continue to garden as both a hobby and as a career . I also pen a blog , A Guide to Northeastern Gardening , in which I share my noesis and love of all things green . My passion for gardening has been and will always be a part of me .
I am sharing a few picture from my fall garden here in the town of Sayville , New York . I am a huge sports fan of combiningevergreenand deciduous plantings for all - season stake , and these pic were taken from the southeastern driveway entrance to the property . The garden you are viewing originated in 1996 and has been evolving ever since . The golden Oriental spruce was planted as a memorial to my mom back in 2008 , and the gardens around it were extended off the main beds of the walkway . The tree now loom at about 25 feet and produces the most beautiful gold leaf and purplish - brownish seed cones , which I look up to every time I pass it by .

Weepingblue atlas cedar(Cedrusatlantica‘Glauca Pendula ’ , zone 6–7 ) in the foreground is indorse by the yellow-bellied drop colouring material of the coral bark Nipponese maple ‘ Sangu Kaku ’ ( Acerpalmatum‘Sangu Kaku ’ , Zones 5–9 ) .
Pulling back a little , you may see the halcyon Oriental spruce ( Piceaorientalis‘Skylands ’ , Zones 4–7 ) , planted as a remembrance to Lee ’s mother .
In front of the weeping cedar is a primer covering of Japanese garden juniper ( Juniperusprocumbens‘Nana ’ , Zones 4–9 ) and variegated liriope ( Liriopemuscari , Zones 5–10 ) .

And filling out the garden , to the right , is a huge old weeping white true pine ( Pinusstrobus‘Pendula ’ , Zones 3–8 )
