Late September in the Garden

( This military post contain affiliate link , please see my revelation Thomas Nelson Page for more info)Though it is hoist down there is still raft of coloring material in my garden .   I know September with its fairly cooler daylight . Though not as spicy as July and August it is still plenty warm . Much of my garden is going to seed but would be blooming more if I had been able to water well .   The drought resistant miscellanea tend to go to seed earlier if I they are not watered and numb headed exhaustively after the first peak .   I was willing to give the later flower to salvage water system because of the stark drouth here in California . Even as they fleet the White Swan coneflower ( echinacea ) is sill just as adorable as ever .   I leave some of the seed heads on the stalk for the chick to nibble on during the winter . The chaff poke up out of the snow until it becomes too deep . On stale winter day we watch the birds perch atop them and consume their filling . Before wintertime hits some folks like the garden pruned , dress and sizable as the perennials and biennials fade but I depart mine standing until the snow melts in Spring .   ( I do clean up any morbid or fungus ridden plants or trimmings and dispose of them)I have pulled up many military volunteer black eyed susies I had let just grow wherever they germinate this yr but I have piled them throughout the garden so the birds can feast on the seeds falling from them .   I pour manure from our chicken penitentiary over the piles and once the rainwater comes it will all set about to compost in plaza . They were crowding out the view of my asters , snapdragon and other Fall blooming flower so they needed to go . I know , it is n’t pretty but in my garden full of plants still blooming it is not detectable , it is tuck in behind them .   By next Spring this will all be a beautiful pile of nutrient dumb compost filled with cherry worm quick to be diffuse around .    Having it right in the garden stool it easy to get to instead of trucking it from a compost bin mode off in another spot . In any case a bear busted up my binful recently , I guess he thought something yummy was in the passel . But I am neglect the mangle mess and enjoying my Gaillardias .. They are so burnished and upbeat and now that most of the Black Eyed Susans have fade they can really beam . This strawflower get is a pleasant topographic point of deep purpleness .   This bachelor Button is namedBlack charming .   I grease one’s palms the seminal fluid fromBotanical interest . I am going to sow more seeds now for next Spring bloom . They will overwinter just ok in the soil and sign me with lots of bloom . There is a mess of flowers you may inseminate in the Fall for Spring blooms . Botanical Interestshas a nice list of salmagundi they carry . Fall Sown Annuals

A few cherubic peas are still going and I have more that are sprouting from come that were dropped by these beauties .   I have been attempt to call for the seeds to sow in next Spring though some will overwinter in the ground and pop up on their own when the soil warms a bit .   The seedlings coming up now may or may not make it thru the winter but it will be fun to quiz it and see . Many of my rose are still performing , they can bloom on into October if we do n’t get a heavy frost .

I will dress them down to 18 inch or so before we get Charles Percy Snow .   They weight of the great C we get can break their canes and cause a lot of wrong .   The mounter I will divest off the leave and prune judiciously for optimum bloom next season .

The hydrangeas are turning colors and are a mythological contrast to the lobelia still going strong . And then there is this , yep I got too busybodied and forgot to water my pitiable buckets and tubs plantation owner .   The peak held up a good long time with little to no water but finally give up the ghost .   I will plant some Violas here as shortly as it cools off more and they will last all winter and be gorgeous in Spring . This is what it reckon like a few short weeks ago … the Petunia and violas were volunteers from seeds dropped by last years flowers . I have planted thesestacked buckets and tubsfor a few long time and I ca n’t get enough of them , I am always on the spirit out for more . For more info on how I made the busty buckets just snap the exposure below . There is enough more to share but I shall save it .   I have put in my new Iris and as I said before I am seeding for next Spring . In my veggie garden , I will seed some lolly and scratch , and I may try some Brassica oleracea italica and brussel sprouts .   I have theHoop Houseto cover and it should facilitate me to produce some veggies afterward in the Fall and into former Winter . Though I do n’t expend near enough sentence in the garden I still enjoy it immensely .   I rarely get more than 30 minutes a day in my garden but I still contend to keep it beautiful enough to enjoy myself and others stop on their drive by to say how much they love it too .   They frequently comment that I must spend loads of time working in the garden and they rarely believe me when I tell them I do not . One 24-hour interval I will partake how I cope it . So what have I been doing if not working in the garden ?   I am getting another pumpkin vine painting tutorial with video quick to send and I have a new recipe to share .   It is yummy !   So come on back to see me . Here is to a new hebdomad beginning!Happy gardening everybody . Met Monday
