In a Vase on Monday. The Four Seasons in Miniature.
Today is the sixth anniversary for Cathy ’s meme ‘ In a Vase on Monday ’ . To celebrate she invites her follower to make a miniature organization , not expectant than 6 column inch wide or 6 inch tall . Today was a execrable twenty-four hour period to lurch round the garden with knock about wind and rain , but still it had to be done , we ca n’t let the occasion reach by unmarked .
I decided to see if the late frosts have left me enough bloom to make the four seasons so that I could celebrate the year in bloom for Cathy ’s day of remembrance .
There are quite a little of summer blooming hang on to give a colourful summer posy . I put them in my flower brick from Highgrove . It is exactly six inches long .

In it I have a few trivial rose bud , some sage includingSalvia‘Hot Lips , Salvia leucantha‘Purple Velvet’andSalvia‘Nachtvlinder ’ . There is a pink scabious , fluffy blueAgeratum corymbosumfrom the nursery . I used a pink origin , a little white campanula , whiteSolanum jasminoidesand the fluffy heads ofPennisetum villosum .
The fall bouquet is easy . The chrysanthemum are still start strong . Nerine undulatais always the last of the nerines to bloom . For folio people of colour I used a red acer leave and bronze leaves from the damp bed fern , Osmunda regalis .
I used the tiny teapot that I still have from a miniature afternoon tea lot founder me when I went to Taiwan days ago .

I have had the small flowered ‘ Picasso ’ in a vase for three week and this nebulizer is still fresh . When I took it out of the vase I noticed it had put out a root . The lilliputian berries are berberis . As well as ‘ Picasso ’ , chrysanthemum are ‘ Mary Stoker ’ , ‘ Stratford Pink ’ and ‘ Golden Greenheart ’ .
My Winter vase has some violent stems ofCornus alba‘Siberica ’ , variegatedEuonymusfortunei‘Emerald ‘ n ’ Gold ’ , the wintertime flowering heather , Erica carnea‘Springwood White ’ , some red holly berries , Viburnum tinus , a sprig of Winter flowering Jasmine , Jasminum nudiflorumand pink and whiteCyclamen hederifoliummasquerading as the winterCyclamen coum . I have sacrificed one of my cherished snowdrops , Galanthus reginae - olgaeas it is a especial occasion .
springiness is a fiddling more difficult . There are a few soggy primroses but their base are too brusque for a vase and they do n’t see very good . So I extemporize a bit . I usedMahonia x media‘Charity ’ as a viewpoint in forMahonia japonicawhich is bounce flowering for me . I also used flower buds from red and white skimmias which get their bud now and open up in springiness . The leaves ofEuonymus japonicus‘Silver ’ King ’ andCyclamen hederifoliumare to give a act of spring freshness . And of course the lady on the little Yolande vase is frolicking in delectation just as I will be when spring come .

So there are my four season to like dear Cathy atRambling in the Gardena well-chosen sixth day of remembrance .
