In a Vase on Monday. January Jewels.
I picked some of my treasures for a small vase today to conjoin in with Cathy ’s meme which affect filling a vase with peak from the garden each Monday . On a slow day like today it perhaps await advantageously with the newsbreak which gives it a ignominious background . The next photo is without the twinkling . I used catkin from the unwashed hazel , Corylus avellanain the hedge . I also used some of the dainty catkins from one of my birch tree trees , Betula utilis . The adorable marbled leaves are fromArum italicum‘Marmoratum ’ . I used two different skimmias . One is the greenSkimmia x confusa‘Kew Green ’ and the other is the redSkimmia japonica‘Rubella”For fragrance I have usedLonicera x purpusii‘Winter Beauty ’ and a piffling stem of my preciousChimonanthuspraecoxwhich has an indescribably delicious aroma .
I have also picked a petty piece of the pinkDaphne bhlolua‘Jacquline Postill ’ . Again the fraagrance is absoultuely wonderful .
Next to the Daphne is the pale lemonCoronilla valentinasubs.glauca‘Citrina ’ which is a bit of a mouthful but I did n’t make it up . I grow this in a pot for rubber . I am not convinced that it is perfectly hardy so it goes into the nursery in wintertime . It smells delicious too . Above theCoronillais a tiny pinkish blossom from the wintertime floweringPrunus x subhirtella‘Autumnalis Rosea ’ which I would never be without .

The flowers are one rather raggedIris unguicularis , I did n’t realize that a poke had been at it until I saw the picture . I am a bit embarrassed about it , but I do n’t have meter to pick another one and start up all over again with the photographs . For arrangement it is best to beak these in bud then you could see them unfurl in body of water . I have picked one whiteHelleborus orientalis . This has quite a pocket-sized flower which suited my arrangement better than the larger single . There are a couple of snowdrop , some variety ofGalanthus elwesii , I am not sure which , and surprisingly a Summer Snowflake , Leucojum aestivum . I have also pick a couple of the adorable littleCyclamen coumwhich have been flowering off since before Christmas . None of my other ones are out yet . The little jugful is from my Shelley ‘ Wild Flowers ’ tea readiness . Do go overRamblinginthegardenand see what Cathy has found to put in a vase on Monday . you could have a look at all the other organization and why not link up ? It is geat play and quite a challenge in the middle of winter .

Chloris what a perfectly beautiful arrangement that match the pitcher . I enjoy all the beauty from your garden in this posy . How I wish there were prime instead of insensate and snow flop now …
January bejewel indeed ! Winter bloomer are such a delight and their redolence are some of the sweetest in the garden . I can almost smell your beautiful arrangement from here .
It ’s very passably Chloris and the jug foot up the flower gloss perfectly . Too bad I can only imagine the fragrance . It ’s funny how things show up on camera that you do n’t see “ go , ” is n’t it ? It happens to me all the meter . Of naturally , I do n’t think I would have noticed anything had nibbled at the Iris if you had n’t mentioned it …

Oh , now that is gorgeous . Sigh . There ’s something so utter and graceful about arrangements in tea porcelain . Simply gorgeous !
Oh Chloris that arrangement must be so pleasing to the nose as well as being most attractive to the centre . I think it was a leucojum in the vase but am amazed as to how other it is . It sure enough is n’t living up to the name of summer snowflake !
