The start of a new yr , fresh with opportunity and potential , is a great time to make plans for the coming season , particularly if you last in an area with substantial winter snow and you could scarcely look for spring to arrive . Here are some of my farming - related raw year ’s resolutions for 2018 . Perhaps they ’ll give you ideas for some unexampled year ’s resolutions of your own .
1. Mow, Mow, Mow!
It goes without saying that it can take a lot to keep a farm appear tidy and manicure , because the gage never seems to hold back growing and there are mint ofbuildings , fences , and other obstaclesto mow around and otherwise navigate .
One of my new yr ’s resolutions for 2018 is to remain on top of the ever - get grass well than ever . It will involve a fate of tools — a mount mower , a couple of string trimmers and a large tractor - mounted mower — but this year , the grass will converge its match .
2. Build More Brick Walkways
In a serial publication of Hobby Farms articles throughout 2017 , I identify how I locate apile of old brick hiddenin the grime and debris beside a pine tree diagram on my farm . I used the bricks for a couple of task this year , include asimple brick walkwayleading to a garden , but there are still hatful of bricks bequeath and I late plant another stash next to a dissimilar tree . I design to use the brick to build a pair of more walk in 2018 … now I just have to decide where they should lead .
3. Remove Rocks From Fields
Over the geezerhood I’veremoved a honest number of rocksfrom the fields of my farm , but I project to remove many more in 2018 . 4. Keep Exploring
Earlier this year , I bumble across avintage cows water dispenserwhile looking through some erstwhile hoary items tuck off on a John Rock pile by the premature owners of my farm . Although in the past tense I ’ve not taken too confining a flavour at the other items on the agglomerate ( it ’s not exactly the most generative of projects ) , I surmise I could unveil some of the farm ’s chronicle by examining the other long - forgotten particular . I intend to gear up aside some meter in 2018 for this pursuit .
