Our final installment of Nancy Heckler’s PNW garden reveals more sensational plantings and inspiring art
Happy Friday GPODers !
Sadly , we ’ve pass the ending of Cherry Ong ’s circuit of Nancy Heckler ’s garden in Indianola , Washington . While Nancy ’s garden has seemingly endless treasure and area to explore , we ’ll leave a little to the imaginativeness . Nancy occasionally opens her garden to tours for the public , so we ’d highly suggest keeping your oculus open for garden go around the Puget Sound area for a opportunity to see Nancy ’s incredible place in person . Of course , if you ’re ineffective to make you way out to Washington , you’re able to always scroll through all of Cherry ’s fabulous photos she ’s portion out with us over several week ( Part 1,Part 2 , andPart 3 ) .
Today we search another garden room where graphics get along alive ! 🦎 This way is pucker into a far side of the garden where Fergus and Brocc go us to . The first thing that greet you on arrival is this unique inanimate lounge lizard climbing up the tree . Nancy said it was made by a admirer and it appears like it has lived in the timberland for many twelvemonth . She does n’t move the piece around as part of it number off every time it is moved .

Our experience is enhanced by the sweet smell of the forest throughout the sojourn , but most specially in this garden room .
There are several more rooms but this will be the final installing contributed to this serial . Until the next garden duty tour .
Cherry Ong

That incredible lounge lizard sculpture Cherry quotation above . It ’s knockout to recognise what textile were used to create this bit of art , but that is also part of what make it so challenging .
If you ’ve control the other parts of this garden your series , you ’ve seen sight of examples of the colorful chalk orbs that are pitter-patter throughout Nancy ’s garden . Aside from being some really pretty garden nontextual matter , they are also a way to connect all of Nancy ’s unbelievable designs together as well as to contribute a second more shine to her shady garden beds .
Structures in a garden are just as important as the plant that surround , and Nancy has made a percentage point to make each one of these “ garden suite ” cohesive yet wonderfully unique . A shed this small can be bland , but the addition of an flowery slight window and exaggerated roof eaves give way it so much character .

All of Nancy ’s garden art is remarkable in that it catches the middle while simultaneously blending in so seamlessly with her garden and landscape painting . A partially pop Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree would gravel out like a sore thumb in many other locals , but amongst the many towering trees in and around Nancy ’s space , it is in reality the perfect pedestal to create something novel .
Even on a modest porch , Nancy is able to find the distance for a bit of nontextual matter and plantings as interesting as the pots they are constitute in . I peculiarly the trough container that looks like an quondam , hollow - out logarithm . A simple words ofblack mondo grass(Ophiopogon planiscapus‘Nigrescens ’ , Zones 6–11 ) adds more interest without overwhelming the small distance .
In a garden with so much green , a piddling rusting is the perfect addition . Again , while in other landscapes an former tree diagram stump would need to be draw or obscured , a stump in Nancy ’s garden is the perfect base to give peak to a garden element that needs a petty lift .

Nancy is also able to keep all of these old tree stumps looking like a cohesive part of her garden by contain lots of natural wood elements into her pattern . A bright colored , pristine raised bed would look out of place in Nancy ’s forest wonderland , while this one ’s rustic finale makes it feel as natural as the respite of her beds .
Of of course , a timberland garden in the Pacific Northwest is not over without a fairish share of fern . I ’m by no mean a fern expert , so I ’m not sure what species this one is . Any fern aficionado have an idea what this mantrap is ?
Lastly , I ’m not surprised at all to see a little stumpery amongst all of Nancy ’s rustic and woody plantings . With all of those old tree stump I have sex one was going to get transform into a natural container .

One final HUGE give thanks you to Cherry for sharing this very special tour of Nancy ’s garden with us . cerise has been unendingly generous in sharing her garden as well as the many private and public gardens she visits , and this visit with Nancy Heckler was no exception . I ca n’t expect to see the escapade that Cherry continues to have in 2025 !
