Planting a prairie garden sparks a new past time of creating and sharing lush, colorful, and inspiring projects and spaces
Hi GPODers !
My name is Dawn Young , and I am an esurient gardener with a passion for domesticate beauty and life in my garden . My love for gardening began with my mum , who introduced me to the joy of nurturing plants . Though my enthusiasm waned for a time , it was rekindled when my hubby and I built our home and I face out into this Brobdingnagian space of dirt & pot ! !
From the start , we envisioned our property surround by a native prairie , one that would support local wildlife and pollinators . Once complete , I realized this vision was n’t enough — I want our home base to be adopt by profuse garden , inviting patios , charming walkways , and a gorgeous glass greenhouse where wecould extend our growing season as well as entertain our Friend and family . Over the past 30 years , we ’ve transformed our 12 - Accho property into a personal oasis , filled with laborious workplace , creativity , and many beautiful perennials , tree diagram , bushes etc . What I am most proud of is that we have done the work ourselves . Weekends in the summer were spent turn on putting in walkways and terrace , add together raised garden beds and lots and lots of designing and planting . Design in the wintertime – piece of work on the task during the summertime .

I am also fuck asSeasonal Designs by Dawnin the social / on-line world . Though I am young to the online gardening space , I enjoy apportion my gardening project and some of my container design with those who take after me . I remember when I first started and how gardening was all trial and error … .. no social media nurseryman to come after ! know this I really endeavor to make my video easygoing to be and I endeavor to respond or react to every comment or request for help that I get ! I hump helping other gardeners and providing intake .
This past summer , I was thrilled and honored to be invited bythe Garden Conservancyto open our property to fellow gardening enthusiasts for two day . Almost 700 hoi polloi drove many miles to come through my garden ! Sharing my space , my passion , and the story behind our gardens was one of the most rewarding experience of my horticulture biography . Connecting with others in individual who share the same grasp for horticulture was truly unforgettable .
attach are a few photo of our gardens and greenhouse . I trust they communicate the warmness and soul we ’ve pour into create a space that inspires , sustains , and celebrates the beauty of nature .

While Dawn ’s space evolved well beyond the original native prairie design that her and her husband in the first place envisioned , there is still plenty of naturalistic component that tie various suite throughout the landscape together . These prairie beds are dead filled with colorful flowers for passing pollinator .
In larger field , the prairie design really shines . A smorgasbord of flowering perennial and grasses provide an abundance of food and shelter for wildlife and pollinator to flourish , and a walking path ( which can just barely been figure in the upper right corner ) permit for human race to also thread through this coloured display and examine the many different plant that can be found weave together .
And all of thees lush , naturalistic layer converge around Dawn ’s sensational glass glasshouse . An absolute focal point of the garden , stone way of life stretch out from all angles to go you to this gathering peak .

A successful garden structure is able to sum up to the role of the space , while adding to the beauty of the surrounding gardens without aim aside or cark . And as this sentiment point demonstrates , Dawn ’s glasshouse sop up your eye in while earmark you to take in the total space . Glass is n’t the ideal for every structure or garden pattern , but its see - through quality makes it perfect when there is a thought you do n’t require to completely obscure . It also allows us to see the incredible chandelier that has been hung inside !
We could not chitchat Dawn ’s incredible garden without a sample of her magnificent containers . These match entranceway pots bring a dada of zesty color .
A flurry of angelic alyssum ( Lobularia maritima , Zones 5–9 ) mark the entrance to the glasshouse , and match the bright white cloud that can be see through the glass .

give thanks you so much for this coloured taste sensation of your beautiful garden , Dawn ! Your entry has me daydreaming of warm summer nights deadheading flowers and adopt in the speech sound of the garden .
