Here ’s something new to us this yr – blueberry in our front yard landscaping . I ’ve been trying to do this for years but ended up on some other horticulture escapade instead . I mean , there ’s like a kazillion fashion to go with this gardening thing . So many plant ; so little time and all that . But this year we got the blueberries in and along with our columnar apple tree , they ’re creating a truly eatable landscape painting .
Recentlyedible landscapinghas gotten a lot of care and I have no idea why it has n’t caught on earlier . It ’s such a brilliant way of take advantage of the little bit of Din Land that many of us have but utilise strictly for ornamentals .

Not that I ’m against ornamental – on the contrary . I have 6 Japanese maples adorn my yard , 5 camellias , and quite a few pink wine , to name a few . And trust me , they are n’t coming out . But it might not be obvious thatfood can be just as decorativeand play the added benefit of feed you , too .
Take my blueberries , for example . The dwarf mixture are stocky and nicely shape just as any decorative bush should be . They ’ll strain about 1 1/2 to 3 feet gamey when they ’re matured . If you ’d opt tall crotch hair , you may plant the highbush plants that will grow to 5 or 6 feet tall .
decent now they have these favourite little pinkish Alexander Bell bloom on them which began showing up in February when many other shrubs are refusing to share their blossoms . In the summertime , we ’ll have plump , scrumptious berry for snacking , pies , frosting emollient , and muffins . After that , many blueberry George Walker Bush will add fall color by offer glorious red or even yellow leaves .

I ’m having a grueling time figuring out why blueberries are n’t routinely contribute to landscaping to begin with . I know what you ’re thinking . You ’re estimate that maybe people do n’t want a plant that loses all of it ’s parting . That there ’s no wintertime stake , am I correct ?
Not to brag ( I mean I did n’t create the assortment ) but the blueberries we planted are called “ Sunshine ” than they are an evergreen plant bush ( zone 9 ) . That sound out , most blueberry varieties are deciduous shrubs . But are you frankly going to discover fault with a ma’am for taking her time to get dressed ? And when shedoesshow up , she looks like a million bucks – for months at a clock time . C’m on , you could n’t draw in that off .

I don’t recommend sending the kids out to harvest blueberries. They usually don’t return with any. Photo byPink Sherbetunder the Creative Commons Attribution License 2.0.
