It ’s just about lily time of year around here , and with this astonishing lack of lily mallet , the lily are looking ok , with no damage leafage or buds , tall , healthy stems and a high measure of buds – it should be another epic year for the genuine lilies . These pink beauties are my mystery lilies – I bought them on cut-rate sale ( yes , I do that too , do n’t you ? ) . They were in unmarked suitcase at a nursery near Boston , already all extend out as they started to grow a few months early indoors . Last year I had them in a container , but last autumn , I transplant them into the garden in front of the glasshouse .
In just one class , they have divided , even farm a few showtime which had individual flowers on them . They are down facing lilies , which are a particular favorite , but I am unsettled whether they are Oriental lily or a cross ( I am guessing that they are a cross between a trumpet and an Oriental , commonly make out as Orienpet ’s . ) . They miss any fragrance , which is ashamed , but other than that , they are rather perfect , even the color , which is a wraith of pink that my friend Jess squall ‘ substance ’ ( possibly imported Ham ? ) really looks skillful in the garden , but it is usually a people of colour I never choose when pick out lily bulbs in the autumn .
Joe built a new gate this week ( Lydia , our distaff Irish Terrier tore the other one aside over some sister bunny – see above ) . I am so happy that I find some vertical and horizontal wooded lathe board at Home Depot – something I ’ve been research for , for about 2 decades . This is a broken cost solution for a nice looking at fence , peculiarly when painted a decent dark slating color , as above . The plastic or vinyl lathe is horrid ( and clean ) , so pigment does not hold well . We bought 20 panels , with the ambitious promise of instal a unexampled fence along the dog 1000 by the end of summertime .
